Need of Public Relations

Need of Public Relations

Pre- industrial period

n     Pre- industrial period business and social relations were simple, straight forward and on a person to person basis.
n     Business and society were much less complex in structure and character than today.
n     Competitiveness was minimal that means institution, company or organization can function successfully in isolation.

After Industrial Revolution

n     Totally transformation of business organization. (Starting of Competition)
n     In such a complex public relations were necessary to fight the competition because success and failure depends largely on the relationship we share with the various group of people around us.
n     Public relations helps build and maintain these long- lasting and mutually benefiting relationships and helps the organization grow further in status.
n     Public Relations emerged as the strongest weapon to raise the ‘image’ of business and government so as to win the understanding and acceptance of the public.

NEED

n     1) The increasingly complex structure of industry and its growing remoteness from direct contact with the people.
n     2) The development of an astoundingly vast and intricate network of mass communication media.
n     3) The rise of competition and more so in the change of the global economic perspective.
n     4) The added emphasis on employee relations with in the organization.
n     5) Development of literacy and education in the third world countries.
n     6) The need to consult and communicate clearly truthfully.
